Looking for the best personal trainer in the Birmingham area? To help you save time on research, I have put together a list of the most popular personal trainers in Birmingham. This article lists all top-rated personal trainers serving Birmingham. Everyone on this list has a minimum 4-star average across multiple Google reviews.
The very first step before finding a personal trainer is actually having a very clear idea of what you want. A lot will depend on whether you need help to stay motivated or you are already an experienced gym-goer.
The more clarity you have on what you want, the easier it will be to choose your personal coach. That is because some personal trainers work with more general goals such as improving your overall health or changing your body shape. Whereas other personal trainers prefer to work towards more specialised goals whether it’s strength building, athletic performance, injury recovery, or moving better without pain.
But if you’re not yet sure which type of personal trainer you should get, don’t worry, this blog will help you get started.
Once you know enough about what you want, it’s time to start researching personal trainers for your project in the Birmingham area.
There is a checklist at the end of this blog for you to use when researching your personal trainer.
Things to look out for when doing your research:
- Have you read the reviews on their website and social media, and aligned the results of their previous clients with what you want to achieve?
- Do their reviews indicate they have the ability to motivate their clients who are struggling?
- Are your goals similar to that of previous clients they have worked with? If they have only ever coached bodybuilding and you are looking to strengthen your body and begin long-distance running, they may not be the best fit for you.
- Do their website and social media show they work in your area? If you have a particular gym in mind you would like the sessions to be in, are they permitted to work there? Personal trainers are not usually allowed to work in any gym they choose to without prior approval from the gym manager.
- If you are thinking about sessions in your home, do they provide this service? Do you have the necessary equipment? You don’t need a fully kitted-out gym, but some equipment always helps to keep things fun and interesting.
Now you know what to look out for, let’s have a look at the top-rated trainers in the Birmingham City Centre area.
UT Personal Training
Urban Training, led by Liam Holder, is a premium personal training brand that focuses on fat loss. They offer tailored online and face-to-face coaching.
Over the last 10 years, they have worked with hundreds of people to give them all the tools they need to reach their goals through exercise, nutrition, and mindset. MSC Performance
MSC Performance was established in 2015 by coaches who wanted to help people get stronger. They became disillusioned with the impersonal approach of gym chains. The founders realised that Birmingham needed a training facility that could provide high-level coached group sessions to young professionals and athletes in Birmingham’s city centre. They set out to create a gym with a friendly, friendly and positive atmosphere.
Their 6-week Strength and Conditioning course is guaranteed to get you stronger, fitter and more confident. It’s designed for those who want results and to unleash their potential, whilst working with an expert coach in a motivational small group.
You can arrange unlimited access to their Birmingham Barbell Club sessions and met-con classes. MSC offer a personalised schedule and programme, which are planned with your coach. They invite you to become part of a community with fun group classes and a friendly environment.
StudioOneThreeOne
Studio OneThreeOne is a private personal training studio in Digbeth, Birmingham that helps people to move better. They have personal trainers and movement specialists who are committed to helping you develop a strong, fit & healthy body so you can look your best, and feel your best.
They believe that most exercise programmes work the body in only one plane of motion with repetitive and routine movements: either up & down or forwards & backward or push & pull.
Their belief is the human body is designed to move in all three planes of motion. Therefore, they have used their years of training and expertise in body movement to create a unique training system that trains your body in all three planes of motion.
By utilising this unique approach, they can help you become fitter, faster, and stronger far more efficiently than traditional exercise programmes while also helping you eliminate injuries and move pain-free.
The Pit Gym
The PIT Gym is a facility based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter that helps people change their body shape. Led by Kieran Quinlan, The PIT has already transformed the bodies and minds of thousands of clients from around the United Kingdom.
Over the past 8 years, Kieran has designed his own fitness systems that took him from intensive care to a champion fitness model. Since opening The PIT in 2018, these systems have been developed and improved to provide equally impressive results for PIT members.
With over 3,000 body transformations, The PIT Gym prides itself on its reputation as the best body transformation facility in Birmingham. Their members become part of what they call #PitGang, and their team of passionate and experienced coaches work with people to better their bodies and move towards becoming the best possible version of themselves.
The above is not an exhaustive list and there are many more personal trainers in the Birmingham area. No doubt you will also want to do your own research (and so you should!) and to help you do that we have provided a comprehensive checklist below to help you make the right decision.
Things to double-check when you think you have found ‘the one’!
- Talk to them. Most personal trainers will offer a free consultation. Use this time to gauge if they want your success even more than you do. If they don’t seem to, they are not the right person for you.
- Ask them what additional qualifications they have done since becoming qualified as a personal trainer. Do they continuously educate themselves to progress in their own personal and professional lives? This is a good indicator of how seriously they take their career and the more they know, the more you learn.
- Are their prices in line with those in the area? If not, why not? How do they expect you to pay? Is it per session or per block of sessions and what is the policy if you can’t make an appointment, or you must cancel at short notice?
- Watch them at work on at least 3 occasions. Do they do the exact same things with all clients or is each session tailored to the individual needs of the client? Do they listen a lot more than they talk; does it look like it’s a 2-way process or is the personal trainer dictating everything and doing most of the talking? Does it look like the PT is bored? Are they able to think outside the box and tailor the session to each individual?
- Does their character match yours? Personal training by its very nature works best when the coach and client connect on a personal level.
- Do they walk the walk? A personal trainer doesn’t have to be the strongest, biggest, or best athlete in the gym, but they should practise what they preach. Watch them when they train themselves. Are they working hard? Are they doing a variety of things? Do they tidy up after themselves?
So, there you have it! You should now feel ready to make the perfect choice when finding your personal trainer. Do take your time to make your decision as getting it right can be one of the best things for your physical and mental health.
